This is a basic, neighbourhood park. It’s more-or-less square, but it does have a big hill at the north end with a couple of little mounds in the flat area. The terrain adds some variety for dogs and presents an opportunity for you to give them a good workout by doing sprints up and down the hill. I stood at the top and threw the ball a few times for Alice. She was out of breath before long.
You’ll need to keep your pup on the leash for the short walk*1about 5 minutes from the parking lot which is located on the east side of Cowboy Trail just south of Griffin Road. Follow the bike path west under the bridge and you’ll be at the dog park in no time.
It’s clean and has adequate garbage bins. The fence is in good repair and we didn’t see any natural hazards to be concerned with. On a clear day, you’ll get a beautiful view of the Bow River in the foreground with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop.
I wouldn’t make a special trip to this park but if you’re in the area and need a bit of a leg stretch, this fits the bill nicely.
Alice gives it two and a half paws because the view is great and the varied terrain is fun.
